BOLERO DANCE THEATRE is pleased to present ZAMBRA,  an intimate tablao-style show. ZAMBRA is a performance in the Spanish tablao tradition, which focuses on a small stage surrounded by the audience in a café setting, eating and drinking while watching a lively show. Song, dance, clapping, and calls to encourage the dancers come from both performers and spectators. The company of twelve will treat the audience to a range of dances alive with colour and rhythm, featuring everything from the snap of fans and clack of castanets to the swirl of shawls and flip of batas de cola, the traditional long-trained, ruffled dresses. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Award-winning choreographer and Artistic Director Pedro Aurelio has envisioned an intimate performance showcasing passionate energy through dance. In addition to dance, the tablao will feature guitarist Philippe Meunier, whose performances have taken him to Spain and across Canada and the U.S. This multiple grant recipient will share the stage with pianist Howard Chan, an accompanist for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Singer Helena Infante will infuse traditional lyrics with authentic flamenco sound.
