Scheherazade, Tales from the 1001 Nights comes to life onstage in the debut of a new dance production this spring! Bolero Dance Theatre, in collaboration with Amar Egyptian Dance takes audiences on a magical journey of colour and music while telling the stories of Aladdin and Sinbad through flamenco and oriental dance. Performances are Saturday, May 6th and Sunday, May 7th, 2017.

Choreographers Pedro Aurelio (Spanish dance) and Nicola Tresoor (Egyptian dance) fuse two styles of dance and music in this dramatic production, with twenty dancers interpreting the stories along with musical selections backed by guitar, keyboard, harp, and darbuka drums.

The tale of the beautiful princess Scheherazade promises to captivate, as she takes her beloved Sultan on a magical journey. Audiences will be treated to a lush glimpse into an imaginary world, with colourful, long-trained dresses, silk veils, castanets, finger cymbals, and elaborate headdresses to complement the rhythmic footwork and hip isolations of the dancers.
